Is your organization preparing to launch a new product, service, campaign, or internal initiative? Could this new undertaking benefit from more thorough planning? In recent years there has been a rapid growth in the use of project management methods and tools as a means by which organizations achieve their strategic and operational objectives. Projects drive business activities in a wide variety of sectors, from private sector manufacturing and service companies, to government and public sector organizations and not for profit charities and humanitarian groups.

Students will apply skills and techniques of basic project management and analytical approaches to meet the challenges of achieving effective project management for a project of your choice.

The final project deliverables might include:

  1. 10-15 minute presentation of key findings and recommendations.
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights, and recommendations.

Project Examples

Students in groups of 4-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities might include but are not limited to:

  • Gathering information in relation to durations of activities, interrelationships among the activities, resources required to perform activities and costs in a real-world project,
  • Developing WBS and performing CPM to estimate the project completion time, to schedule activities and to allocate resources,
  • Performing PERT to manage the project under uncertainty,
  • Developing the project baseline and preparing status reports,
  • Using MS Project to develop the project plan, to schedule resources and to develop the status reports.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
